A Typical Day In The life of a Virtual Assistant

This is us.

After successfully managing a virtual stakeholder event. A lot of time and planning went into this and we’re always worried that technology will fail us, but this was a great event and the smiles show how happy we were for our client who received great feedback post event.

What is a virtual assistant?

A virtual assistant is someone that takes care of all your business needs. We take care of all the tasks you know are important but somehow get pushed to the bottom of the to-do list as other more important tasks arise.

As a one liner we give you back the time to focus on the things that you need to do.

What does a normal day look like for a virtual assistant?

Typically we work from our home office. We have learnt that flexibility is required in this job and because of this we carry our laptops, headphones, phones, tablets, pens and papers with us everywhere! So if we have to jump on a call or deal with an urgent task we can do this without delay.

Through flexible working, the job can be done remotely or on the go.

With the help of technology we are able to have virtual meetings, saving all that commuting time to get the job complete and ensure all our clients are happy. One thing about us is that we are competent about completing tasks, so we tend to keep our meetings to a minimum.

Our unique positioning is that we have a team of Virtual assistants

Clients are assigned a Lead VA. This is someone who is the main point of contact for the client and who will ensure the work is completed. However, our clients also have access to more of us when the need it.

Recently, we organise, coordinated and ran a stakeholder event and our client was able to use 5 of our CB team members to facilitate and take minutes in the breakout rooms.

This means that we can assign tasks to our team members when it falls within their specialism remit. A recent example was with a client who required research for an NHS bid. We assigned this particular task to Zandie who has years of experience as a parliamentary researcher.

The great thing about the way we work is that our clients have access to ‘tool kit’ of skills and expertise to ensure the company runs to its full potential, (more heads are better than one right?)

A typical day is never really typical because each client has different needs.

One day could be full of contract management calls, while another could require travelling to meet a client for a day of working ‘togetherness’.

We could even just have a day solely based on social media, or perhaps replying to emails. A typical day is hard to define because of the unique requirements of every client. However, at the start of day we create a plan of action to add some structure into the day.

Life outside of being a VA

How do we fit in things like gym, life, or seeings friends and spending time with family? At times it can be difficult, as we always want to make sure our the job is done to an exceptional standard, sometimes this means working till late, or waking up super early to complete a task, especially when working with global clients.

As a Virtual Assistant, discipline, balance and prioritisation is the key!
